Want to get into the holiday spirit? The Lake Terrace Convention Center and Forrest General Hospital are setting up to host a winter wonderland. The event starts with a Christmas Village full of activities for kids and adults. Complete with Santa's workshop, where elves and other characters will be in attendance assisting crafts to make magical reindeer food and ornaments. Got a sweet tooth? Head on over to Mrs. Claus' Sweet Shoppe for delicious holiday treats.
The event is in celebration of Forrest General's Women and Children's Services, and their newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the hospital's newest family member, Forrest the deer will be making his official debut. And sources say, the big man himself will be making an appearance.
Forrest General Marketing Director, Millie Swan says, "We just really want to have something magical and wonderful for families. These days, it's really hard to have something where everybody can come and it's an event for all, and that's what we're doing out here. So it's gonna be an event you don't want to miss."
The excitement at the village will be followed by a winter wonderland concert featuring live entertainment from the USM Symphony Orchestra, led by Jay Dean, who says it's a great way to celebrate the holidays.
"It's a great opportunity for the orchestra and the singers to do some music a little bit different than what we normally do. We're gonna fill the convention center up with holiday music. We have over 400 performers in the show, and so we're very pleased that we can offer this to our community and to our area and help this area celebrate the holiday season."
Adult admission is $18 and $10 for kids. Tickets are available at the Southern Miss box office, online, and will also be available at the door.
