HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - If you are thinking of quitting smoking, Thursday is the day to do it. It's the Great American Smoke Out.

At Southern Miss they were taking the phrase "Quitting Cold Turkey" literally.

In fact, any member of the campus community that disposed of their tobacco products at special dump sites Thursday across campus, could receive a free cold turkey sandwich.

The nationwide Great American Smoke Out is a program of the American Cancer Society. The goal is to give people considering giving up their habit a firm date to begin the process.
