HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Thursday at Southern Miss, the University's School of Mass Communication and Journalism honored their 2010 Hall of Fame class. The group included WDAM-TV's six o'clock anchor and News Director, Randy Swan.

Swan, a 1970 graduate of the University, has spent almost his entire career in the Pine Belt bringing important local news to the public. He was raised in Hattiesburg and has remained faithful to serving this community.

According to Swan, "It's a great school here at the University of Southern Mississippi and I think this is the fourth class to be inducted and I just feel so privileged and so proud to be a part of it."

Nine other people including three posthumous inductions were also recognized for their contributions to the field of journalism.

According to Christopher Campbell, the Director of the School of Mass Communication and Journalism, the department created the Hall of Fame as a means to honor their distinguished graduates.

"I think everybody knows Randy and everybody knows I think his commitment to this community and to this university and so we are really happy to be recognizing Randy," said Campbell.
