"Be a Santa to a Senior" kicks-off at mall

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Many senior citizens may not have family with whom to share Christmas gifts, but you can share the joy of the season with these folks. "Be a Santa to a Senior" is the name of an outreach to older people who live alone.

All you have to do is drop by a Christmas tree sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care at Turtle Creek Mall, choose an ornament with a name on it and buy a gift for that person. Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree was the first to pick out an ornament.

"You pick up an ornament from the tree and it has the greatest needs written on the other side and then, you drop it off, unwrapped, into the mall office by December the 8th and then, we have a big wrapping party December the 16th," said Anna Edenfield of Home Instead Senior Care.

The gifts will be delivered by employees of Home Instead Senior Care.
