JONES COUNTY, MS. (WDAM) - Imagine what would happen if a plane with twenty five passengers and crew members crashed at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport.

You might see a scene complete with first responders, airport personnel and volunteers rushing to take care of mock victims. That is what happened Tuesday when the airport hosted a drill designed to measure their disaster readiness.

The full scale drill is mandated by federal aviation officials every three years. Tom Heanue is the airport's Executive Director.

"You work on different scenarios every time and different issues with those, and hopefully in the long run you help save some lives," said Heanue.

The full drill will be reviewed by aviation officials during the airport's annual inspection.
