Wayne County teacher arrested for enticing student

WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A 36-year-old Wayne County High School teacher has been arrested and charged with enticing a child under the age of 18 for sexual purposes.

Lara Wells was arrested by sheriff's deputies Monday following an investigation into improper text messages between the teacher and a student.

Authorities got involved after school Superintendent Robert Dean and Principal B.R. Jones reported the allegations to the Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said the text messages between Wells and the student were sexual in nature. Wells was released on $5,000 dollars bond, and officials say the case will be presented to the January term of the Wayne County Grand Jury.
