Fire station named for retired Petal firefighter

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The Central Fire Station in Petal has been named in honor of a recently-retired firefighter who served his town for 3 decades. It's been named for John Anderson, a 62-year-old former battalion chief. He was congratulated by mayor Hal Marx and fellow firefighters at a retirement party at the Central Station this afternoon.

Anderson retired one month ago, after 36 years with the Petal Fire Department.

Anderson also served as logistics chief and headed up public education for the fire department.
