HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Steve Palazzo was a no-show today at an AARP-sponsored candidate's forum in Hattiesburg, but he appeared about an hour later in Eastabuchie.
Palazzo was scheduled to take questions along with incumbent Congressman Gene Taylor and Libertarian candidate Tim Hampton.
A Palazzo campaign worker notified organizers the GOP candidate had a "personal emergency" and wouldn't be appearing.
The AARP candidate forum ended just before 3 p.m. At about that time Palazzo arrived at Mak's store in Eastabuchie, a gas station and restaurant, where he shook hands and spoke with voters.
Palazzo said he didn't appear because of a scheduling error and not because of a family emergency. He added he took full responsibility for the mistake.
