LEAKESVILLE, MS (WDAM) - The Greene County Sheriff's Office could be about to find itself at the center of a lawsuit to the tune of $5 million.

A notice of claim was sent to county leaders from a Hattiesburg law firm which now represents a teenage girl who alleges a Greene County deputy raped, sexually assaulted and battered her in the backseat of a patrol car.

It allegedly happened in October of 2009 and now the family of the alleged victim intends to make a list of claims against the sheriff's office, including assault and battery, gross negligence and retention of the officer involved and punitive damages.

Calls to the county attorney Paul Walley were not returned. The attorney for the victim, Robin Roberts declined comment due to the alleged victim being a minor.
