School Board narrows search for superintendent

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg School Board has narrowed the list of candidates for the top job in the school distirct. This morning, School Board members met to discuss 10 candidates who had been interviewed for the position of school superintendent.

Following an executive session, board president Rev. Marcus Cathey announced the number had been cut to 3 finalists. He did not give their names and said no decision has been made yet on re-interviewing those remaining finalists.

The position of superintendent became vacant last June when former superintendent Dr. Annie Wimbish resigned. Assistant superintendent Jimmy Hopkins has been serving as interim superintendent ever since.
