Taylor, Palazzo, Hampton to appear on WDAM and take your questions


HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The race to be U.S. representative for the 4th District is heating up in advance of the November 2 general election.

The incumbent, U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, is facing off against Republican candidate Steven Palazzo, Libertarian Party candidate Tim Hampton and Reform Party candidate Anna Jewel Revies.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on WDAM-TV's morning program, Taylor, Palazzo and Hampton will take questions from the viewing audience live from the Internet.

Taylor will appear on October 27, Palazzo on October 28 and Hampton on October 29.

Viewers will be able to log on to www.wdam.com during their appearances and ask questions live using a instant messaging tool. The station is also taking question by email leading up to the shows at info@wdam.com in addition to taking them at Facebook.

Currently, Taylor claims to have an eight-point lead over Palazzo.

Palazzo claims the race is closer - 45 percent for Taylor and 41 percent for Palazzo, with the other two candidates taking the remaining 14 percent.

Gene Taylor

  • seeks changes to state insurance plans to allow for wind damage

Steven Palazzo

  • opposes the recent bank bailouts and changes to healthcare
  • wants to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and expand them
  • opposes abortion rights
  • opposes homosexual marriage

Tim Hampton

  • as a Libertarian, promotes extremely limited government
  • seeks tax reform
  • wishes to dissolve the U.S. Department of Education
  • wishes to limit the presidential use of signing statements and executive orders
  • opposes the recent bank bailouts
  • wishes to end Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the U.S. Postal Service
  • favors the flat tax
