Man formally charged in Hattiesburg murder

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A man wanted for a Hattiesburg murder is now back in the Hub City after being arrested in Louisiana a month ago.

Lonnie Ulmer is now formally charged with murder for the shooting death of Bobbie Jo-Ann Muir, who was found shot in the head inside an apartment at Piedmont Park Apartments on Wisteria Drive.

The shooting happened in early September and soon after Ulmer was arrested in Louisiana on another charge of attempted first degree murder.

Ulmer will make his first appearance on the Hattiesburg murder charge Wednesday morning.

    The Mississippi Military Department, the Nature Conservancy and several state and federal agencies have teamed up to boost the numbers of endangered gopher tortoises at Camp Shelby and the DeSoto National Forest.
