PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Perry County woman charged in a weekend shooting that killed an acquaintance of hers made her initial appearance in court Tuesday.

Ladonna Morgan appeared before Justice Court Judge James Poe. Poe delayed setting a bond and ordered a pretrial hearing be held in 30 days. Bond will be determined at the hearing.

She's being held in connection with the shooting of 43-year-old Michael Joe Dunnam. Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith says deputies found Dunnam dead from a shotgun wound to his chest at a residence in the 100 block of Calvary Church Road shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Morgan was taken into custody at the scene.

Morgan was remanded back to the Perry County Jail.
