Forest Service reminds deer hunters about burn ban

PINE BELT, MS (WDAM) - The USDA Forest Service is reminding hunters that this year's new deer season is beginning with a statewide burn ban in effect. Archery season for white-tail deer began Friday, and Forest Service officials say hunters should keep in mind that there's a closure order on national forest land, banning all types of fires.

Forest Service officials say there are currently several wildfires burning in the Desoto National Forest which have scorched about 2,500 acres in the last several days.
