HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The list of write in candidates vying for the 10th District Chancery judge seat continues to grow.

Michael Barefield was in West Hattiesburg Thursday afternoon passing out flyers to potential voters. Barefield has been practicing law in South Mississippi Chancery, Circuit and Federal Courts for the last 22 years.

Barefield said, "growing up in a household dedicated to public service has helped pave the way for him, and winning this election is a great opportunity to serve the public, especially children, in an even larger capacity.

"There needs to be more done in child support issues and  child custody issues. In this day in time, there are so many divorces and the children always seem to be the victims in those cases, I really think someone needs to be watching out for them."
