PETAL, MS (WDAM) - South Mississippi congressional candidate Steven Palazzo was in the friendly city Tuesday morning touting why he should be the one to defeat a political mainstay.
Palazzo's trip to Petal comes one day after his Democratic competitor, incumbent Gene Taylor, was in the Pine Belt defending his seat. Palazzo, a Republican, says it's time for conservative leadership to take over Washington and admits the campaign may be tough but is confident with his recent polling, putting him just under Taylor.
"To close the gap I think our voter intensity is off the charts. People are mad at their government, they're mad at the situation that they're finding themselves in and they're scared for the future of not only this generation but for the future of generations to come and they want somebody that's going to go up there and have the courage and conviction to stand up to people like Nancy Pelosi and say enough is enough," said Palazzo.
Palazzo, Taylor and Libertarian candidate Tim Hampton will all be guests on our "Wake Up Call" series on News 7 Today, the last week of the month.
