Conditions are extremely dry, and at times windy, in Mississippi and that makes the entire state a potential tender box.   Tuesday of this week, there was a forest fire near Camden in Madison County that burned over 500 acres in a very short time.  Wednesday, Governor Haley Barbour issued a "Burn Ban Notice" for the state.  Don't burn trash, garbage or leaves out side.  Don't throw cigarettes or matches out the car window…be very, very careful with fire of all types during this time of dangerously dry conditions.

For those of you who get a kick out of starting destructive fires, know that the law will be vigilant in investigating and hunting down arsonists who would indulge their sick passion in our state.  Out of control fires can destroy homes, property and take lives.  The old saying "if you play with fire you will get burned" is true both figuratively and literally.  Please be careful and obey the burn ban.  I'm Jim Cameron with today's Viewpoint.  Write and let us know what you think.
