HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Forrest County Board of Supervisors approved a $70 million bond issue proposed by Forrest General Hospital.

The money will be used to build a new Highland Hospital in Picayune and reimburse Forrest General for completed projects or those currently underway. Forrest General purchased Crosby Hospital in 2006 and later changed the name to Highland Community Hospital.

The Board of Trustees for the hospital approved the bond issue at their September meeting.

Forrest County will not be obligated in any way for any of the debt and Forrest General doesn't receive any funding from Forrest County.

The estimated cost for the new Highland Hospital is $50 million.
