HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - The Area Development Partnerships 2010 Leadership Pine Belt class is hard at work this October building a playground for a Hub City neighborhood.

Work on the park at the Celeste Place subdivision began Tuesday with crews from Leadership Pine Belt and Lowe's teaming up to build a playground. Lowe's Heroes project donated twelve hundred dollars towards the park.

The playground is just one element of a project that is set to include a barbecue pit, picnic tables and pavilion for neighborhood residents to enjoy. Celeste Place is a project of the Hattiesburg area Habitat for Humanity chapter. Jay Hudnall is a member of the 2010 Leadership Pine Belt class and said recipients of Habitat for Humanity homes work hard to live in them.

Hudnall said, "And you know they aren't just strictly given, they purchase them and work hard to make sure they are able to get in them and have them. And then to have something for the children or the adults to come out grill and enjoy themselves and really make it feel like a true subdivision in a community that they take a lot of pride in."

Twenty years ago the Hattiesburg area Habitat for Humanity chapter was established by the ADP's very first Leadership Pine Belt class in 1990.
