Burn bans continue in the Pine Belt

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for nearly half of Mississippi.

The conditions for burning are so bad that county supervisors throughout the Pine Belt have issued a burn ban until conditions improve.

Jones County authorities said, low humidity and high winds increase the risk that any fire getting out of control.

Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge said, " The National Weather Service is saying the conditions are higher. I mean it could happen to anybody, don't think it can't happen to you. I don't care what the situation is, what the fire is, or whatever you thought is do not burn until further notice."

Jones County has issued a burn ban until October 15th.
