One professor at Jones County Junior College is urging students to register to vote. Caren Griffin teaches government at Jones and says everyone's voice needs to be heard, so she organized a voter registration drive this week at the Student Success Center.

She says, "Our government affects them longer than it affects any other generation and they need the opportunity to voice their opinion and participate in our democracy, and this is the way they can do that."

So far, they've had over 200 students register, and they are anticipating that number to grow. Cassidi bush, a student at jones, registered to vote today at the registration drive.

Cassidi told us, "I feel like my opinion is just as important as anyone else's and my vote should count too."

Professor Griffin told us the voter registration drive continues until friday, and spawned from the Rock the Vote campaign organized in 2008.
