HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Southern Pines Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week is two year old Hudson.
Hudson was found outside the front door of the Spay and Neuter Clinic Monday morning in a kitty carrier. He apparently was dropped off by an owner who could no longer keep him, but still wanted him to go to a good home.
Based on his looks his breed may be a Maine Coon, which is an animal known for it's large size, round face and big paws used to walk in the snow in Maine.
He is a very sweet, affectionate cat. He should do well with kids and other pets. He would also be perfect for an elderly person looking for good company.
He is de-clawed, so he would need to go to a home with no other cats or cats that are also de-clawed because he wouldn't be able to defend himself. Also because he is de clawed he would have to remain an indoor cat.
Cost for his adoption is $65.00. He has been neutered, checked for worms, has his first shots, and has a micro chip installed for permanent identification.
The shelter has recently expanded their hours. They are now open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, and Saturday, 10:00am to 2:00pm. They are located at 1901 North 31st Avenue in Hattiesburg, right behind Antonelli College.
