Petro Nissan celebrates 20 years

By Jeff Daley – email

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Petro Nissan hosted a rededication ceremony to celebrate 20 years of service to the Pine Belt Thursday afternoon.

Eddie Petro bought the Main Street dealership in 1990 and moved it to West Pine the following year. In 1996 they relocated  to it's current location on Highway 98 in West Hattiesburg.

Petro is semi-retired now and the business is run by son Tony and daughter Debbie Petro-Dukett. Today they employ 70 people.

When they made the move out west there were few businesses in the area. At the ceremony today Tony Petro told the crowd the first few years were extremely tough, but they were confident that the area would continue to grow. Over the years the dealership has become the fastest growing Nissan dealer in the state.

"We got Americas first 100 percent mass produced all electric vehicle that will be here in just a few months," said Tony Petro. "It's just great being a Nissan dealer right now and all our customers realize that and that's why we've been so successful over the last 20 years, taking care of folks, putting our employees and our customers first."

Four employees were recognized at the ceremony for the 20 years of service to the company.
