Hattiesburg, MS(WDAM) - A local organization is teaching Pine Belt children how to express themselves through the performing arts. Southern Inspiration of Praise or SIP is a non-profit organization based out of Hattiesburg, which exposes kids from all over the Pine Belt to the performing arts.

Kids learn how to perform in plays and how to play musical instruments. Students will then showcase their talents every two months in a recital at local churches.

The organization isn't just for kids, there are adult members who also perform and mentor the kids. SIP hosts a youth camp every year for kids and because the turn out is so big they have opened an after school program.

Founder Alonzo Williams said, "After having a 109 kids for the summer program, a couple of members from the board decided to make it an after school program as well. We believe that performing arts is very important and we have seen that art integration has really helped with parent involvement. Parents love to see their children playing piano, they love to see their children being exposed to different things."

The SIP organization will hold their next recital in November. If you would like to find out more information on how your child can get involved, email sipraise08@yahoo. or call 601-584-6200
