Pickering hosts reception for Palazzo

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Republican state elected officials are continuing to rally behind the GOP candidate who hopes to unseat 4th District Democrat congressman Gene Taylor. State Auditor Stacy Pickering tonight hosted a reception for Steven Palazzo at his home in Laurel.

Last week, Lt. Governor Phil Bryant spoke at another Palazzo gathering in Hattiesburg. Palazzo says it shows that the Republican Party in Mississippi is coming together at the right time.

"It just goes to show you that Republicans are supporting Republicans," said Palazzo. "They know that we need a change in Washington, D.C. They know that in 2010, South Mississippi matters and that the fate of our country could literally rest on the 4th Congressional District and we do need to restore conservatives to congress," Palazzo said.

He'll face Taylor in the November 2nd general election.
