Hattiesburg, MS (WDAM) - Helping entrepreneurs bring their ideas to light was the topic of discussion Tuesday at a meeting among Pine Belt business leaders and Mississippi Technology Alliance.

Mississippi Technology Alliance is a private non-profit organization that was established 10 yrs. ago by business leaders throughout the Pine Belt.  Simply, to connect entrepreneurs and early stage innovation based companies to all of the resources they need in order to succeed from supporting organizations to professional service providers as well as money to fund their ideas.

Mississippi Technology Alliance President and CEO Tony Jeff said, "really for an ecosystem to exist you  have to have a source for innovation.  This whole region, especially with a world class Research University like Southern Miss  has got a tremendous amount of innovation that comes out of it and quite a few companies that have been very successful."  Jeff goes on to say, "you then have to have entrepreneurs and the people to bring that innovation to market."

Another need is a way to access capital.  Jeff said, that's where they come in. Tuesday's discussion mainly focused on how to connect entrepreneurs looking to start up small business to available stimulus dollars.
