POPLARVILLE, MS (WDAM) - A Virginia couple is pedaling across the country to honor fellow CIA officers who were killed in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan last December.

Rob and Kim Richer began their journey September 11th in Jacksonville Beach Florida.

Sunday morning they stopped off at the Poplarville Fire Station where they were treated to breakfast and good old Southern Hospitality.

The Richer's call their journey "Pedaling for Patriots". They want to honor and bring awareness to the public about the five CIA agents and two contractors who lost their lives in the attack.

Their 3200 mile journey will take them through eight states to their final destination in San Diego.

"We want to do it for the families.  We want to do it for the organization.  Also for the memories of those that were lost," said Rob Richer. " I served an extensive career in the agency. My wife obviously was there to support us and take a lot of those risks over seas. She understands the risks that family members take. In this case it's a journey for us to acknowledge their sacrifice and sacrifice of those still serving"

The Richer's plan to complete their journey sometime in late October. Follow their progress by going to
