Pet of the week 9-16-10

By Jeff Daley – email

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A two and a half year old "Skipper Key" mix breed is the featured pooch on this weeks Southern Pines Animal Shelters Pet of the week. Valerie Rachal of the Spay and Neuter Clinic says Cash has been at the shelter far too long and is ready to go to his new family.

Cash is very friendly and playful, but is also very calm. He gets along great with other pets and should make a great family pet.

Cash has been adopted once, but his new owner couldn't keep him.  He has been back at the shelter for six weeks and is definitely ready to go home with a new loving family.

You can meet Cash and other great adoptable pets Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Bops on Hardy Street in Hattiesburg. Each customer who visits the event and registers to support the shelter in its effort to win the ASPCA $100k challenge will receive a scoop of free frozen custard.

Cash's adoption fee is $70.  He has already been neutered, wormed, been given his required shots, and micro chipped for permanent identification.

The shelter has recently expanded their hours. They are now open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, and Saturday, 10:00am to 2:00pm. They are located at 1901 North 31st Avenue in Hattiesburg, right behind Antonelli College.
