Students ask budget questions at SGA meeting

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Students concerned over proposed faculty and program cuts at Southern Miss met face-to-face with top school administrators tonight. Dozens of students attended a town hall meeting at the Thad Cochran Center, hosted by the Student Government Association.

Many asked questions about faculty lay-offs and the cutting of nearly two dozen degree programs, in anticipation of a $15 million budget shortfall.

University president Dr. Martha Saunders said any cuts made will be absolutely necessary.
