JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A burn advisory has been issued in Jones County due to windy and dry conditions.
The Jones County Fire Council issued the advisory after several acres of land went up in flames Sunday afternoon.
Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna said when there is a lack of rain and high winds residents should not burn anything.
McKenna said, "Majority of the county right now is really drying out. Low humidity and dry temperatures, as you can see we got a good breeze blowing here right now, it is conductive to the spread of wildfire."
McKenna said if unmonitored burning continues a burn ban could be issued by supervisors.
