FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM)- Crime scene investigators from Florida and Mississippi converged in Forrest County Wednesday hoping to solve a series of murder cases still open in both states.
Authorities are looking for clues in a home on J.B. Horne road formerly occupied by Kenneth Lee Knight, a truck driver arrested in March of 2009 for the 1998 murder of a Perry, Fla., teen.
Authorities said they were able use DNA evidence to link Knight with the murder of Sandra Espinoza. The evidence was taken from the suspect while he was serving prison time for a 1996 murder in Arkansas.
Authorities said they have reason to believe Knight may have been involved in other unsolved murders, and personal belongings from those victims could be buried near his former home.
Crime scene investigators from Florida, Mississippi, The University of Southern Mississippi and the Forrest County District Attorney's Office are still combing the area in search of evidence which could link him to other crimes.
Knight is currently in a Florida jail awaiting trial on first degree murder charges in Espinoza's death.
