LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Longtime Lamar County district two constable Paul Ammacker met with the board of supervisors Thursday morning to let them know he was resigning to take a new position.

Ammacker has accepted a position with the F-B-I and will be going off to the training academy in a few weeks.

He is in his second term as constable and has held the position for seven years.

Ammacker says becoming an F-B-I agent has been a long time dream of his since college.

"I'm really excited, I'm apprehensive.  You know it's hard to leave being comfortable and being around good people, said Amacker. "I feel a lot of butterflies starting something unknown."

Ammacker's last day on the job was Sunday.
