HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -  A fugitive from Louisiana is in police custody after being arrested in Hattiesburg early Monday morning.

HPD spokesman Sgt. Allen Murray says Timothy Alford was finally caught during a traffic stop just after 1 o'clock thanks to an anonymous tip.

Alford was on the run for almost a week after shooting a Washington Parish Deputy just across the state line near Franklinton, Louisiana. The deputy only suffered minor injuries.

Alford was arrested without incident and was picked up by Louisiana authorities Monday morning.
