HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Mississippi church has partnered with a national charity to bring free shoes to needy families in the Hub City. Dozens of families collected some of the 450 pairs of shoes that were given away Friday afternoon at the Eagle Wings Estates Apartments in the Palmer's Crossing community.
They were provided by Charlotte, North Carolina-based, Samaritan's Feet and were distributed by Hattiesburg city officials, volunteers and members of Jackson's, New Horizon Church International.
This was the first time the church and the charity have donated shoes to Hattiesburg residents.

Local towing companies have been swamped with business in the Pine Belt. Jessica Bowman caught up with one company that said it was so busy with calls, it had to turn people down. Scott Taylor said, "Pretty good damage to the car. This is probably one of the worst cars we've got in today.
