Greene county supervisor guilty of tax evasion

Hattiesburg, (WDAM)- A Greene county supervisor has been found guilty of evading federal taxes in a federal case involving Katrina fraud.

However, a federal court jury in Hattiesburg was deadlocked on three other counts, and found Earnest Holder not guilty of a fourth count of fraud.  The 77 year old supervisor was accused of taking over 100,000 dollars in kickbacks from Mid South Pipe company in exchange for the contract to clean up storm debris in his district.  The jury was deadlocked on three counts of bribery, perjury, and conspiracy...not guilty on tax fraud for the 2005 tax period...but guilty of tax evasion for 2006.  Holder will be sentenced on October 28th.
