HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The city of Hattiesburg now has a new director of engineering filling a void since the former director retired.
Tuesday evening the city council unanimously approved Bert Kuyrkendall for the job. Former engineering director Bennie Sellers retired in June after two decades of working for the city.
Kuyrkendall says he'll work with each council member to understand their vision for the city.
"I'm excited about where the city is going. I think it's a great time to get involved with the city there are great projects and great plans and I'm thrilled to be a part of it," said Kuyrkendall.
Kuyrkendall's new position becomes effective August 30th.
