OVETT, MS (WDAM) - An Ovett man was injured in a freak accident Friday night while trying to tow a boat with his pick-up truck.
The unidentified man was attempting to tow the boat with a tow strap. The weight of the boat was too heavy and the metal hook attached to the boat broke free, went through the fiberglass shell of the boat and was propelled through the driver side rear window of the truck striking the man in the back of the head.
When members of the Ovett Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene the man was conscious and alert, but he had suffered a skull laceration and was bleeding profusely from the head.
He was transported to South Central Regional Medical center by EMSERV. His injuries were not life threatening.
