HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Sacred Heart Catholic School began fall classes Wednesday, with over two hundred of their students in a new high school building.
Sacred Heart High School is now serving two hundred twenty seventh through twelfth grade students in a building that once housed Hattiesburg's First Baptist Church.
The new high school includes more than enough space for students with room to expand. Total enrollment for Sacred Heart School is at six hundred seventy students, ninety students more than last year.
Fifth and sixth graders in the elementary and middle school have been able to increase their classroom space in the former Sacred Heart High School building.
Nicole Welch is a senior at Sacred Heart High School and the student body President.
Welch said of the new building, "We are so excited. Like we are the first class, we are kind of sad a little bit that we only get to spend one year here, but we are also excited that we get to spend our last year here."
Sacred Heart will graduate thirty students in 2011.
