Petal accident sends three to hospital

By Jeff Daley – email

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - Petal police are investigating a three vehicle accident late Tuesday afternoon that sent three people to the hospital.

The accident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Old Richton Road and the Evelyn Gandy Parkway.

A Ford F-250 was traveling westbound on the parkway when the driver said he reached down to pick something up off the floor and didn't see a white Lexus pull out in front of him from Old Ricton Road. The truck slammed into the side of the Lexus as it attempted to cross the parkway.

It appeared at least one of the injured had to be cut from the Lexus using the jaws of life.

Three unidentified people were transported to an area hospital.  The extent of their injuries is unknown.
