Arrest made in Prentiss Murder

PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) -  Jefferson Davis County Sheriff Department along with the help of Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is investigating a murder that occurred in rural Jefferson Davis County on August 6, 2010.

At approximately 8:00 P.M. Friday, Jefferson Davis County Deputies were dispatched to Prentiss Regional Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim. Once at the hospital, Deputies discovered that 44-year-old Willie Glenn Newsome of Prentiss had been fatally shot multiple times at his residence on Progress Rd. After a preliminary investigation on scene, Investigators learned that the incident started over beer. Investigators took 28-year-old Antonio Griffin of Prentiss into custody a half mile from where the shooting took place.

Investigation is still ongoing. Investigators are still gathering information from witnesses and will be charging Antonio Griffin with Murder.
