How to save on your power bill

PINE BELT (WDAM) - Mississippi Power Company said you can save money despite the heat.

Corporate spokesman Verdell Hawkins recommends setting your air conditioner on 78 degrees.

He said use ceiling fans. Also, close the blinds and drapes to keep the sun out.

"Customers don't realize how much control they actually have over their own power bills," said Hawkins. "Also, by simply cutting the lights off when they leave out of the room or switching from the traditional light bulb to energy-efficient light bulbs, which use 75 percent less than traditional light bulbs and last ten times as long."
