Iowa, Nebraska troops training at Shelby

CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - Soldiers from the Iowa and Nebraska National Guard have begun training at Camp Shelby for duty in the Middle East.  Troops from the 2-34th Infantry Brigade Combat Team began arriving last weekend for several weeks of extensive live-fire maneuver exercises.

The unit will have a total of about 3,200 soldiers training at the post.

They will be joined in early September by more than 2,700 soldiers from Idaho, Montana and Oregon that are part of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team.

That unit will also train at Camp Shelby for several weeks before deploying overseas.
