HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Southern Pines Animal Shelter's Pet of the week is Homer, a big loveable 9 month old male mix breed terrier.

Homer has a sad story behind him. He was brought to the shelter about two weeks ago when someone spotted him being tossed from a pick-up by his owner who didn't want him anymore.

Homer weighs about 40 pounds and is expected grow to be bigger. Because of his size he will probably need a big yard to play in.

He is also very playful, has a great temperament, and should make a great family pet.

Cost for adoption is $70. He has already been neutered, has his first shots, been worm tested, and is micro chipped for permanent identification.

Southern Pines Animal Shelter is open from 10 to 5 Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; 10-3 on Tuesdays, and 10-12 on Saturdays. The Shelter is located at 1901 N. 31 Ave. behind Antonelli College on Hwy 49 N. You can reach the Shelter at 601-544-6632 or visit us on the Web at SouthernPinesAnimalShelter.org.
