Laurel Salvation Army helps residents beat the heat

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A few people in Laurel beat the heat Sunday by spending the day at the Salvation Army's cooling station.

Whenever the temperature exceeds 100 degrees the Salvation Army of Laurel opens their doors to those people who need a comfortable, air conditioned environment where they can get away from the excessive heat.

Light snacks and water are also available while the cooling station is open.

For those people planning on using the cooling station in the future, remember to bring any medications you need to take and don't bring your pets with you.
