Two injured in Hattiesburg air rifle drive-by spree

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Two men were injured after a two separate drive-by air rifle shooting incidents in Hattiesburg late Wednesday morning. 

The first shooting took place at around 10:30 near the intersection of Highway 49 and Helveston Road. The victim was shot in the right arm and declined treatment at the scene.

The second victim was shot a short time later at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Vernon Street.  The unidentified man was transported to Forrest General Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Nineteen-year-old Antonio Carter and a fourteen-year-old and sixteen-year-old juvenile were taken into custody following a traffic stop near the scene of the second shooting.

Carter is being held at the Forrest County Jail. The two unidentified juveniles are in the Forrest County Juvenile Detention Center.

Charges for the three have yet to be filed.
