HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Twenty nine young women from around the state arrived on the Southern Miss campus Sunday to begin their journey to find out who will be the next Miss Hospitality for the State of Mississippi.
The contestants will make McCarty Hall their home for the next week as they vie for the title.
The girls will rehearse for this weekends pageant at the Saenger Theater throughout the week. Several other activities are planned for the contestants including a Hattiesburg City tour Tuesday.
Last years winner Claire Walley of Greene County says the most important thing for the contestants to remember is to just be their selves.
"That's what helped me the most last year," said Walley. "If you are true to yourself that's going to shine through. The judges and everyone else in the audience will see that."
The pageant takes place Friday and Saturday night at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.
