Hattiesburg ADP holds Military Fair for Shelby Unit

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)  - The 158th Infantry Brigade recently moved their mission to Camp Shelby.

The brigade is comprised of active duty soldiers and a reserve component from different parts of the country totaling about 650 soldiers.

With the move 250 soldiers and their families moved to the Hattiesburg/Pine belt area.

To make the transition to the area easier for the soldiers and their families, the Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership held a Military Fair on Tuesday at the Lake Terrace Convention Center. Representatives from several businesses were on hand to help show the soldiers and their families what Hattiesburg has to offer.

"It's going to have a huge economic impact in our area, schools, daycares, jobs,"  said Catherine Lott of the ADP. There is just so much that they have to offer."

The 158's mission is to train units prior to deploying to combat areas.

In the recent weeks, Hattiesburg firefighters responded to five house fires, with the latest one on Monday, being caused by an extension cord. “Extension cords are a hug...
