HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The 184th in Laurel could be heading to Afghanistan within the next two months.

On Monday, Phil Fisher, 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Commanding Officer, spoke to The At Ease Retired Mississippi National Guardsmen in Hattiesburg.

Fisher said the soldiers just returned from Fort Lee and will be heading to Fort Hood, Texas in two weeks.

Fisher said, "We have 267 people that we will be carrying forward, five of those are from Delaware. All of them are very talented and very capable people. We have really going through training much faster than we had planned for."

Fisher said, "As a matter of fact if we would have stayed one more day they would have run out of things for us to run through. This is a bright bunch and they are doing an excellent job getting ready for this mission."

The 184th is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in September.
