Fire at Marion office caused by lightning

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - A lightning strike was to blame for a fire inside an office at the Marion County Schools building last night. A bolt of lightning hit a communications pole attached to the county building on Highway 13 around 7:30, causing a fire on one side.

Firefighters put it out quickly, but at least one office was slightly damaged by the fire, while much of the rest of the building received some smoke and water damage.

No one was injured.
