CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - Nearly 150 National Guard soldiers, mostly from Mississippi, are at Camp Shelby demobilizing after a year-long mission in Iraq. Troops in the 858th Horizontal Construction Company spent part of their day turning in deployment gear and taking care of other duties.
They arrived at Camp Shelby Wednesday night and still have a few more days of demobilization activities before they can go home.
The 858th mobilized last July in Indiana before heading to Iraq.
Troops from 12 different states deployed as part of the unit.
